PHOTO EXHIBITION „A CAPRICCIO“

The exhibitions of photos by Gregory Talas, a Lithuania-born artist, is now open at the museum‘s Tolerance Center. G. Talas is an award winning photographer, designer, painter, educator and producer, currently living in Canada, where he is freelancing as a photographer and art director.

The artist named his retrospective photo exhibition A Capriccio. The term, meaning „freely“ in Italian, is commonly used to describe musical compositions which have unexpected changes in temper and elaborate expression. According to Gregory, this exhibition is named A Capriccio because it contains photos which represent various periods and styles of artist’s personal and creative life. In the exhibition, the views of Vilnius in the 1970s are replaced by the streets of Toronto in the early 21st century or by the corners of Rome in the 1980s; the buildings of Prague are placed near the portrait of the resident of Nemenčinė, Manius. Changing places and scenes reflect Gregory’s residency changes. Being a world citizen, he sees the details of the Remington Model 5 typewriter or the nostalgic streets of Vilnius through artistic eyes.

The exhibition will be open from January 18 until March 18, 2017.
